Janis Ian
This is one of the things I just absolutely love about music. I can still find bands and artists that I never really knew or listened to before and find something amazing to listen to.
Janis Ian is my latest music discovery. Here's how it happened: My friend Julie was over the other night and we were watching SNL, the first season when Janis Ian performed. We were completely blown away by her amazing voice. She was singing "At Seventeen" which I had heard before, and had always loved that song, but hadn't realized who it was. Her voice was haunting and beautiful. I wish I could sing like that. Of course Julie and I said we had to go out the next day and purchase a CD. I look forward to listening to all of her CD's that she has out.

Fantastic Weekend
What a great weekend it was!! There was beautiful weather to make the weekend even more great than it already was. I was busy, busy, busy.
Friday evening was spent with friends eating and chatting. Saturday morning I got together with some members of a group that I'm in and we went to breakfast at a place called "Dish". The breakfasts at this place are wonderful and I highly recommend for those who are in the La Canada Flintridge area.

I had their breakfast special that they had up on Saturday morning. It was a pesto, mozzarella and tomato omelette. It was amazing! Everything else looked great so I can't wait to try this place again. Yum!
Saturday afternoon I got together with my friend and band mate and we practiced for awhile. She on the bagpipes and me on my tenor drum. I think we're getting better so it's great that we did. I went home for awhile and did a bunch of stuff around the house and then later on we met up to have wine and cheese and watch Arrested Development. I didn't stay up too late as I had to be up early.
Sunday morning I was up at the crack to go volunteer with Project Angel Food. I've done a fair amount of volunteering but working with Project Angel Food was by far my favorite experience. I love to cook so for me to be able to cook and have my cooking/preparing/packing go to a worthy cause was even better. Everyone there was really great and it was a lot of fun even though we were working our butts off getting meals together. It really is "team" type atmosphere and it felt great to be part of such a great team! I'm looking forward to volunteering there again and I know I won't be able to do it every weekend but hopefully will be able to do it at least 2 times a month.

Sunday afternoon was spent car shopping in Glendale with a friend. The guys at the Jetta dealership were really cool. The dealer at the Lexus dealership was a jerk.
Sunday dinner was at Don Cuco's in Glendale where we sat outside as the weather was perfect for that. I love Don Cuco's for Mexican food. And margaritas. Never forget the margaritas.
I finished up the weekend by winding down and watching one of my favorite shows, "The Amazing Race". I won't say who got elimiated in case some have not watched yet.
All in all it was a fantastic weekend! I hope yours was as enjoyable as mine!

Black Snake Moan
Current mood: chipper
I actually can't get this movie out of my head. At first I was so-so in seeing it but after I saw it last week, I can't stop thinking about how much I liked it. I would not, I repeat, WOULD NOT recommend this movie for everyone.
I especially would not recommend you bring a child to this movie and if it's your week to watch all of your 4 sons, ranging in age from 6 to 16, wait until your ex-wife has them again before attempting to see this film. Do not bring them to this movie and let them run up and down the aisles. Seriously, I can't believe the morons that actually do this!!
Anyway, I really liked this film. It was twisted and funny. Two thumbs up.

Maxed Out a.k.a. Inconvenient Truth About Credit Cards
Current mood: geeky
I saw this movie last night. It had 10 "wheats" so I had to see it. I would say that it was an eye opener but it really wasn't. If you don't know how f'd up the credit card companies actually are then you have been sleep walking for quite some time and you need to wake up. If anything, it will just make you angry. And want to pay off your credit cards if you're in debt. Read any books by David Bach. Don't charge it!
