Here I go!

Welcome to The World According to C.R.A.P. (Commucicative Rebecca Ann's Ponderings)!

Well, it always seems like I'm talking about something so here I am, starting a blog. I hope you'll enjoy your reads.

Last night my friend Cindy and I went to try a relatively new place called Palate Food + Wine in Glendale. It had a write-up in the LA Times not too long ago that made us want to try it out.

We had a 6 p.m. reservation at the communal table as that was the only thing that was available at the time Cindy had made reservations. We had been shopping at the nearby Glendale Galleria so we weren't dressed up but we weren't dressed like slobs either. We arrived right on time and were promptly seated. We ordered water and started to parouse the menu. The wine list was a bit overwhelming as it was at least 5 or 6 pages long. All the food on the menu looked intriguing and would be items I would want to try at some point. Cindy started out with the swordfish mason jar thing which was a buttery, light flavor and not dry at all. I started out with the potted berkshire pork mason jar. It was amazing. It tasted like buttery pork, lightly seasoned but so flavorful. I would order that again. Cindy ordered the duck as her main course which was yummy and I had the oxtail with the roasted potatoes and marrow. Yum! I used to suck on marrow when I was a kid so it brought back fond memories. I also had an assorted cheese plate with 3 different kinds (a sheep blue, a goat semi-soft and a harder cow's milk cheese which was similiar to a piave).

The food was great and I would go back again but I wasn't thrilled with our waiter. He was a bit on the aloof side almost to the point of rudeness and when I go to a new restaurant that will always make me a bit hesitant to go back again. He did not even mention the black truffle risotto that was the special that day as I heard him mention later on to a choice few. He just came across that he thought he was all that and just wasn't personable. I do want to go back there but would like to do the chef's tasting menu and sit at a seperate table. One woman at our table did have a really cool portable wine decanter.

I am, however, very excited about my new Via Spiga shoes I bought on our shopping trip and can't wait to wear them! They're a beautiful half boot, with a small zipper and adjustable straps. It's almost like art for my foot. Yes!
