Bean & Cheese #13 - National Burrito Day

Whoo-hoo! It's the first Thursday of April which means that it is National Burrito Day! It's a great time to have a B&C.
Today I decided to stop by Puebla Taco's #3 on the corner of Las Robles and Woodbury in Pasadena.
This is another location of the Puebla Tacos I went to last Friday night before the Earthquake.
The B&C from here is a good size and costs $4.99 + tax. This location also has a good variety of salsas and condiments.
There is one salsa that indicates that it is XXX hot so of course I got a container of that and a container of onions and cilantro.

The tortilla didn't have that same chewy consistency but maybe that happened from sitting in the wrapper for a bit. I didn't want to risk another shaker to find out!

The taste of the beans were good, perfectly salted and cheese throught but all melted. The XXX salsa has a really wonderful taste and I had some chips to go along with it.
It was a good burrito but sadly it did moosh out the bottom and I wanted more cheese (unmelted, of course!) throughout.

Bean & Cheese #12 - Earthquake Burrito

On Friday night I stopped at Puebla Tacos in Pasadena at the corner of Orange Grove and Lake after doing some grocery shopping at Trader Joe's and I hadn't gotten a bean & cheese burrito in a while.
I ordered a B & C  and a California burrito for my husband.
They had a really good salsa selection so I packed a container of onions, cilantro, green salsa, spicy red salsa, a smoky red salsa and purchased a side of chips and a side of sour cream.
I had gotten home and was putting away the groceries when the 5.1 hit. Needless to say because it was nighttime my nerves were shaken.
It took awhile for me to feel calm enough to even take a bite of the burrito but when I did I enjoyed.
It was a good size burrito.

The tortilla had a wonderful chewiness to it and the burrito stood up throughout. The only thing is it could have had a little more cheese and I had waited till it had cooled off before I even took a first bite so I will need to try again.
Chips were wonderfully salted and crunchy.
All salsas were tasty and spicy.
The California burrito was also really good. Even lukewarm it was really good. Some really wonderful person had the idea to put French fries in a carne asada burrito. Yum!

Bean & Cheese #11

Number 11 for a B&C try took me to Las Fuente in Reseda on Vanowen just east of Reseda. I parked on a side street since the small parking lot was full and went inside. The place was packed and it really had an energetic vibe to it. Cute decorations.
I ordered my B&C and had to wait quite a bit for it as there were a lot of people ordering. I packed up some salsa while I was waiting and then took my order and left.
When I got home I opened the container that the B&C came in and found out that it was a smothered burrito with sauce and cheese all over it. While I like my sauce I usually like to pick up my burrito to have each bite and I usually can't get a good feel for the tortilla because it's a bit soggy.

It was a good size burrito but not completely sure of the cost, maybe around $5?
Salsa choices were good at at least 3 hot variety.
Cheese was melted throughout because everything was hot and melty. Would not get another B&C but would go back to try other items on the menu as everything looked really good.

Bean & Cheese #10

My 10th B&C took me to Alfredo's Mexican Food in Burbank on San Fernando Road near Burbank Blvd. This place was previously another Mexican eatery that the customers had declined over the years and then had just closed. It opened in recent months so I had wanted to try it.
I ordered a B&C and it was $3.89 + tax. There were a few people ahead of me waiting for their orders so I took it as a good sign. My order was ready about 10 minutes later and I took it with me.
It was a good size with a cute Alfredo's wrapper around it. It didn't come with any chips but I had the option of them tossing in a container of either red or green hot sauce.
The tortilla had that nice, chewy texture I enjoy when I bit into it and there was quite a bit of unmelted cheese throughout the bites of pinto beans.
Beans could have used a tad more salt but were really good nonetheless and the green sauce was so good as I put on individual bites.

The B&C did not bust open towards the end and was a really good size for the price. I also noticed they have the California burrito, which is one of my favorites, as it includes French fries inside. No, not the healthiest option but tasty.
The photo below showing one of my favorite parts of Alfredo's B&C burrito as there was a high ration of cheesy deliciousness in this burrito. Definitely one of my favorites so far.
Ok, time for a hike today to work off some B&C calories!

New Year, More Bean & Cheese Burritos!

During the month of December I got the cold that almost everyone I know, had. It was not fun and I was sick the entire month of December and New Year's. I still have a little bit of cough left but December was filled with soup and not bean and cheese burritos. Anyway, my search for my favorite bean and cheese burrito continues in the new year!
