BTTF and Estate Sales

This past weekend David and I went over to a friend's house. He had asked to interview him about Back To The Future as he's doing a documentary on the movie. He also asked if David would edit the documentary and as he's a big fan, he said yes! My friend lives in the big, beautiful house that is behind the tree that George McFly falls out of when he's watching Lorraine undress. Believe it or not, people from all over the world come to visit that tree. He's had visitors from the east coast, Australia, Italy and just last Saturday, Germany! We were outside talking with him and enjoying the weather and 2 guys drive up and park in front of the tree. They get out of their car and are talking and then they turn and see David's BTTF t-shirt and they stop talking. We all start talking with them and they speak pretty decent English but John's wife, who is German, comes out and starts talking with them. They operate a big Back To The Future tribute site and have a ton of European fans. It was pretty cool.

I little while later I decided to walk down the street as there was an estate sale going on. I've been to many yard and garage sales but never to an estate sale. It was rather sad. Some little old lady was being moved into a home so they were selling all of her stuff. It just felt odd being in there. You are going through some person's home and all of there stuff and deciding what you will and will not pay for it. In looking at her stuff I found out that she liked to entertain, she loved to decorate for Christmas and Easter, she liked to sew and she liked cats. I ended up buying one of her treasures for a buck. It's a wooden plaque to signify that a kind hearted woman lives here. I have always liked this smiling cat plaque so couldn't resist when they said it was a dollar.
